Date changed from June 1 to the 8th.
Planned Closure of Rockville Road Between North Tuckahoe Bridge Road and I-64 begins June 1st
Goochland County is notifying residents of a planned temporary closure of Rockville Road between North Tuckahoe Bridge Road and I-64 to allow for roadway improvements associated with the approved Highfield development.
The closure is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2026, and continue through August 16, 2026, with all work expected to be completed before the start of the Goochland County Public Schools 2026–2027 school year.
The project includes roadway elevation and alignment improvements, as well as the construction of turn lanes designed to improve traffic flow and increase safety along this section of roadway. These improvements were approved in response to community concerns related to visibility and traffic conflicts.
During construction, drivers will be detoured using Pouncey Tract Road and Ashland Road. Clearly marked signage will be installed to guide motorists safely through the detour.
Residents are encouraged to plan additional travel time and use alternate routes during the closure period.
Goochland County will continue to share updates throughout construction via the County website (dedicated page link & news flash link), and the County’s social media accounts (Facebook post link).
