Why is a Zoning Ordinance Amendment (ZOA) needed?
Currently Data Centers are By-Right in ARTICLE 18- INDUSTRIAL, LIMITED, M-1
Currently are many large parcels of land zoned M-1 throughout Goochland County, from east to west. (see attached Map)
However currently there are no Use Standards for DATA Centers in Article 20 of the Zoning Ordinances
Only the Board of Supervisors can initiate a Zoning Ordinance Amendment process
How can a citizen help?

Communicate with the Board of Supervisors about the need for specific Zoning Ordinance Amendment (ZOA).

Ask that data centers be zoned M-2 “Heavy Industrial”.

Share your concerns over Data Centers being By-Right in M-1 zoning district.

Share your concerns that there are NO Use Standards for Data Centers.
